Black Masterbatch

By producing our Masterbatches we use high quality industrial carbon blacks, each tailored to a variety of applications. We offer Masterbatches for the production of fibers, carpet yarns, non-woven, monofilaments and multi-filaments in a variety of dimensions from 0.5 denier onwards. But our Masterbatches are also suitable for the production of films and sheets, as well as for injection molding, microfilaments and micro fibers.

The production of black Masterbatch is particularly challenging. The black color is achieved by the incorporation of carbon black. Processing problems arise because soot particles adhere together to form particle lump-like aggregates.
If numerous aggregates self-assemble, they form so-called agglomerates. As it goes with most applications of Masterbatches primarily to a uniform dispersion, agglomerates are undesirable because they block spinnerets and filters. The IKV has developed an innovative technical process in which each individual carbon black particles is coated with the respective polymer. A uniform dispersion of carbon black is achieved in the Masterbatch and, furthermore, it prevents the degradation of the polymer.

Some of our carbon blacks meet the EU food standard (EU 2002…). In addition, we also offer one of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States recognized carbon black. The range of polymers we use has constantly being expanded originally from polyester. As carriers we currently use polyester, PBT, PA 6.6, polyamide PA6, polypropylene, LDPE, HDPE and blended compounds.

The advantages of black Masterbatch for example:

  • For all strengths (denier) from 0.5den onwards, also for microfibers and microfilaments
  • Various types of carbon black for different requirements
  • Food quality EU standard and FDA
